The Challenge

Draycote Hotel & Whitefields Golf Club wanted to maximise the use of their outdoor clubhouse and bar seating area throughout the year.

The existing patio accommodated more than 60 guests and featured an outdoor television for live sports, making it a popular destination during the summer months. However, due to the British weather, the space remained largely unused for around eight months of the year.

The client required a practical and cost-effective solution that would significantly increase their covered seating capacity while creating a comfortable outdoor environment that could be enjoyed in all seasons.

The Solution

To transform the space, we designed and installed a 20m x 8.6m configuration of the KE ISOLA 3 retractable fabric roof system, arranged across four connected modules.

The installation included:

• Four-module KE ISOLA 3 retractable fabric roof
• 10mm Line Glass sliding doors fitted to all sides for complete weather protection
• Dimmable integrated LED lighting
• Eight 3kW infrared heaters for year-round comfort
• Bespoke timber-clad feature wall behind the outdoor television to improve viewing contrast and create a premium finish
• Frame Colour: RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey
• Roof Fabric: White

Why We Recommended This System

The KE ISOLA 3 was the ideal solution due to its ability to span large areas efficiently while maintaining a sleek, contemporary appearance.

With a maximum module size of 5.5m x 10m, the system enabled us to cover the entire terrace using just four modules. Shared beam profiles maximised the opening roof area while delivering one of the most cost-effective solutions per square metre.

During the design phase, we produced several layout and budget options. The original proposal covered only the lower terrace, but following our site survey and consultation, we demonstrated that extending the installation to include the upper patio would create an additional 45m² of usable trading space. The increased investment offered significantly greater long-term value while reducing the overall cost per square metre.

Bespoke Design Features

Every commercial project presents its own challenges, and this installation was no exception.

With an overall projection of 8.6 metres, an additional structural support column was required. However, placing this centrally would have obstructed guests’ view of the outdoor television.

Our design team developed a bespoke solution by offsetting the central support column 1.6 metres to the rear, creating an uninterrupted 7-metre viewing span across the seating area.

This innovative approach was only possible thanks to the flexibility of the KE ISOLA 3 system and demonstrates how bespoke design can enhance both functionality and customer experience.

The completed installation has transformed the hotel’s outdoor hospitality offering.
